Checking Out Books

Pre-K: May check out one book per week. Students who forget to return their books may not check out another until it is returned.

K-Grade 3: May check out two books per week; one fiction book and one nonfiction book.

Grade 4: May check out up to four books per two week loan period; with at least on fiction book and one nonfiction book.

Grades 5-8: May check out up to four books per two week loan period. These students may also check out book sets (book with CD or tape), Playaways, and Kindles (students will need an electronic device permission slip).

Exceptions will be made to the above procedures for students in Grades 4-8 should their classroom teacher request that students be allowed additional materials when working on research projects.

Reference materials may be checked out for one to five days depending on the material and the assignment given by the classroom teacher.

Students in K-Grade 8 with more than two overdue books will not be able to check out additional items.

Overdue, Lost, and
Damaged Books

Fines: No daily fines will be charged for books that are overdue and returned.

Notices: Once the books are considered to be overdue, our system sends an email reminder. Please be sure that the email address you provided to our district office is current so you don't miss any notifications.

Damaged books: Students will be responsible for  paying a replacement fee for any books that are damaged beyond repair or continued use in the LRC. The building LRC Associate will use their best judgement when determining replacement fees. It is recommended that replacement fees be paid through Skyward.

Lost books: Once a book has been overdue for thirty days, it will then be considered lost. The borrower will be charged the cost of replacement as determined by current publisher list price. If the item is out of print, the cost of a reasonable substitution of the same type, quality, and content will be charged. This item will be determined by the LRC Associate and LRC Facilitator.
It is recommended that replacement fees be paid through Skyward.

Any lost or damaged library materials not paid for will be added to the student's school fees at the end of each trimester. If the materials are returned to the library in useful condition within 30 days of the receipt of payment, that payment will be credited to the student's school fee account. No credits will be authorized after the 30 days of receipt of payment.
